Chocks Away Air Charter Ltd.

Second of my Bike & Brew Passport stops today... Easy to get to... just give your name at the gate... not sure why? Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating... Only had a brew, but the menu and food on display looked very tasty. Friendly and welcoming too.. Relaxed and watched a few small aircraft coming and going.... and then, the big one came in to land.. the Beluga!! How that thing flys, and more to the point how it stopped so quickly!!

1st time attending here after seeing it advertised on Social Media. Cafe is just fine, food was nice, service was good, prices OK but a tad more expensive compared to other cafes. You have to stop at a Security Barrier on arrival at the site, where your number plate will be taken by ANPR cameras, inform security of your Surname before the barrier is lifted for you to continue the journey to the cafe. Some parking directly outside the cafe on the road and some Disabled parking right in front of it. Another car park further up the road to the LHS of entrance, but then you need to walk back to the entrance. A gap between the building and adjacent building at the front provides access to the rear enclosed space for viewing aircraft, picnic tables and childrens play area. The inside of cafe is clean and tidy but the outside area is looking a little tired and in need of tidying up a bit. Didn't see much aircraft whilst there, but it was a Bank Holiday Monday. Enjoyed the visit and food.

Possibly my favourite cafe. The food is absolutely delicious and the staff very friendly and helpful. Menu ranges from light snacks, meals, drinks, cakes and ice cream. Situated on airbus base. Great views of the runway to watch the Beluga planes land and take off (check daily times on Beluga Hawarden Facebook page). A little play area outside for children. Wheelchair friendly. Best to book as can get busy.

It used to be possible to swap a single breakfast item, but the policy has changed. Staff are now unable to make simple substitutions for example, they can remove bacon but won’t add an egg without charging extra. The warmth and welcoming atmosphere that this place used to have just isn’t there anymore. It now feels quite transactional. A shame, as it used to be one of my favourite cafés and I would frequently recommend this place.

Only found out about this hidden gem yesterday. Arrived just as the Beluga was taking off. Must check timetable next time we visit. Ordered food which arrived quickly was tasty and good value. Also, there are quite a few aeroplanes to see and a WWII Hertage Centre (although quite small, but has a spitfire in it) but wasn't open when we went).
