What moves the price

Positioning

If the aircraft isn't based at your departure airport, the empty leg to reach you is usually billed into the trip.

Peak days

Holiday weekends and event dates carry surcharges and longer minimums as fleet availability tightens.

Short-leg minimums

Most operators bill a daily minimum (often ~2 flight hours), so very short hops cost more per mile.

Deicing season

Winter departures from cold-weather airports can add deicing fees — commonly four figures per application.

How charter pricing works

01

Hourly rate × block time

Charter quotes start from an hourly rate for the aircraft class multiplied by block time — engine start to shutdown, including taxi and climb. That is exactly the math this estimator runs, using the same rate card as our per-aircraft trip examples.

02

Positioning & repositioning

You pay for the airplane's whole day, not just your leg. If the aircraft must fly empty to reach you or return to base afterward, those positioning legs are built into the price — which is why a quote from an operator based at your departure airport is often sharper.

03

Peak-day premiums

Thanksgiving, Christmas week, July 4th, and major event weekends compress fleet availability. Operators respond with peak-day surcharges, stricter daily minimums, and less flexible cancellation terms. The same route can price meaningfully higher on those dates.

04

Membership vs on-demand

Jet cards and memberships trade a deposit for fixed hourly rates and guaranteed availability; on-demand charter prices every trip at market. Frequent flyers on predictable routes can do well on cards — occasional travelers usually do better comparing on-demand quotes.
