Lisbon, Portugal

Atlantic light, wine country, and tech

Lisbon has surged as a private-aviation destination on the back of Portugal's golden-visa era, a booming tech and startup scene, and its role as an Atlantic gateway between Europe, the Americas, and West Africa. The city draws heavy and long-range jets for the Web Summit each autumn, summer coastal escapes to Comporta and the Algarve, and a growing base of relocating entrepreneurs and family offices. Passengers include tech founders, wine and real-estate investors, and transatlantic travelers positioning between US East Coast and continental Europe. Traffic is strong through spring and summer and spikes around the November Web Summit.

Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) sits just seven kilometres north of the center, unusually close to downtown, with a main runway (02/20) around 3,800 metres that handles heavy and ultra-long-range jets, plus a shorter crossing runway. A dedicated executive-aviation terminal and handlers manage customs, Schengen immigration, and catering. Terrain is manageable but the single long runway and city-edge location can create slot pressure at peak times, with Cascais (CAS/LPCS) nearby for smaller aircraft and Faro (FAO/LPFR) as a regional alternate. The drive into central Lisbon takes 15 to 20 minutes, with easy onward car transfer to Cascais, Sintra, and the Comporta coast.
