We completed a helicopter tour with Altitude Air today after our first attempt the previous day was cancelled due to poor weather. Check-in at the domestic airport was smooth and efficient, and we were quickly transferred to the helicopter for departure. The initial flight to Lukla took around 40 minutes, however visibility was extremely poor due to fog and there was little communication from the pilot during this stage. Landing at Lukla was an exciting experience, but after arrival we were informed the helicopter had to leave for a rescue mission at Everest Base Camp, resulting in a one-hour wait at the airport before another helicopter and pilot arrived. The second part of the tour was absolutely spectacular. The weather cleared and we experienced breathtaking views flying over the Khumbu Icefall, Everest Base Camp and surrounding peaks, before landing briefly at Kala Patthar — a true once-in-a-lifetime experience. Due to changing weather conditions, our planned landing at Mountain Lodges of Nepal Kongde and later Everest View Hotel was deemed unsafe. Instead, the pilot offered an alternative landing at a nearby monastery, where we spent a short time exploring before again being delayed due to another rescue mission. Unfortunately, communication during these delays could have been much better, as we had mobile coverage and would have appreciated clearer updates and the opportunity to properly explore or enjoy a coffee break while waiting. We ended up waiting for another hour at the helipad before being picked up. Overall, the scenery and flying experience were incredible, particularly Kala Patthar and the Everest region views. However, given the premium cost of the tour, we felt the overall experience lacked the seamless organisation and communication we expected. We completely understand that rescue operations take priority, but more proactive communication throughout the day would have significantly improved the experience, for this reason I would not recommend Altitude air.

Altitude Air saved our Manaslu Trek when we were pinned down by bad weather. We were able to wait for the Larke Pass to re-open, finish the trek and fly back to Kathmandu in time to catch our flights home. They were on-time, courteous and the ride was simply spectacular. Thank you!

We had an amazing experience with Altitude Air. The pilot was professional and extremely courteous as he gave us a tour of the Everest Base Camp area and a Lukla drop off. The sights and remarkable scenery were highlights of our Himalayan Trek! Thanks Altitude Air!

Our team of eight was trekking the Manaslu Circuit in late October 2025 when we were caught by Cyclone Mortha. The situation throughout the Himalayas quickly became dangerous and chaotic. Despite the many difficulties, Altitude Air came to our rescue. Their equipment, pilots, and professionalism were all first rate- I recommend their services without reservation. Thank you Altitude Air!
