I did not have a good experience with this company. The pilot training standards are poor, and the behaviour of one of their examiners was unprofessional and inappropriate. He constantly shouted, acted insecure, and treated people unfairly. If you care about proper training, fairness, and a respectful environment, this company may not be a safe choice. Flying with them involves risks — both in terms of training quality and overall professionalism.

Avoid Coastal Air – misleading fares and shocking service! I booked a flight from Zanzibar to Mafia Island via Kiwi.com for 192 CHF. When I arrived at the airport, I was told I had supposedly bought a “Resident Fare” – something never shown or selectable during booking. I was forced to pay an extra 240 USD in cash to be allowed to board. Two other travellers faced the exact same problem that day, and I met another one later on mafia with also that problem – we all had booked through an flight tracker website and were told the same story. This seems like a systematic scam, not a one-time mistake. To make things worse, the so-called direct flight turned into a delayed detour via Songo Songo Island, with poor communication, a faulty airplane that we had to exchange when we were ready to leave. The whole experience felt careless, disrespectful and unprofessional. Coastal Air owes me (and many others) a refund – and an apology. Until they fix their booking system, I strongly advise other travellers to avoid Coastal Air at all costs.

Disappointing Experience with Coastal Aviation I had an extremely disappointing experience with Coastal Aviation in Zanzibar. The customer service was terrible—the staff were rude, arrogant, and completely unprofessional. Instead of being helpful, they acted with unnecessary pride and attitude, making the entire process frustrating. It was clear that they let personal emotions affect their service, which is completely unacceptable in the aviation industry. Instead of focusing on customer satisfaction, they seemed more interested in asserting their authority and dismissing any concerns. I would not recommend Coastal Aviation to anyone traveling in the region. There are plenty of other options with far better service. Avoid them if you want a smooth and pleasant travel experience.

Good experience and safe ride, though we did have a delay of over 30 minutes.
