I recently visited the new office of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) and was immediately impressed by the modern and welcoming environment. The facilities are well-maintained, though parking is limited at the front of the building. The staff were courteous and friendly, making my visit a pleasant experience. I am optimistic that CAAT's regulations and initiatives will continue to support and enhance the Thai aviation industry, benefiting both the sector and its professionals. Cheers.

As a tourist I tried to comply with CAAT's drone guidelines. I had travel insurance, personal liability insurance well above the required level exceeding the couple of hundred thousand dollar levels $AUD for indemnity and liability (personal). I applied before i entered the country and was denied with no reason to denial. I reapplied again with more details, denied again. After arrival, from the hotel room before exploring the country, applied again with more context and asking why denied, no context. Finally after three days in country, I get a reply "no insurance details" That's it, despite providing and also confirming via phone call my insurance covers what they are asking for. (Liability insurance for my drone) But my drone isn't listed on the policy with it's serial number... but is covered in the boiler plate, and I'd have to wait until Monday to get my insurance to get me a cover letter to probably not even satisfy the CAAT before halfway through my holiday. 0/10 experience as I even prepared, filled out the forms, jumped through the hoops and wasn't told why it was denied with an automated reply. Exceptionally frustating experience as a tourist for less than 3 weeks who tried to play by all the rules etc had ample insurance, have a remote pilot license in Australia etc but they just didn't care. The website was a steaming pile of garbage you need to do better for compliance for tourists. Otherwise you'll get 0% compliance and be 'shocked pikachu' about it when nobody bothers.

Not answering their phone during opening hours... Most information on their website is in Thai and is not even there as text - it’s a pasted PICTURE, making it impossible to translate with Google. Their default English translation is simply wrong in places, making the drone registration process a complete nightmare

You can barely find the office. Online registration doesn't work at all. Maybe if you have luck. I uploaded all documents and the lady at the counter said there are no uploads at all, what can not be as I had a message saying upload complete after uploading. Why do they have an online service when it doesn't work at all? Even if you have your registration at caat you'll need one more permission from the national Broadcasting department. Going through both instances even with online registration took me 2 whole wasted days in Bangkok, where it's hard to get to those places. I lost my appetite for flying a drone in Thailand as it is way to complicated for a foreigner to register. Seems like they don't want you to fly here and make advertising for their beautiful country. Sad...

its very difficult to register a drone, they always come up with something new to reject your application. I did it already 5 times, if its not that document then the reject your own signature. Like they don't want you to fly in Thailand :( They don't see the big picture that you promote thailand trough posting videos online :~) SAD
