The Mid Island family’s main concern is to insure the safety and confidence of our students and pilots. We provide flight training from the Private Pilot through the Airline Transport Pilot. We offer ground school courses to complement our flight instruction on LI. Once a year, our renters fly with our CFI’s for their Annual Flight Review where they can practice IFR approaches, gain Class B experience, plan a night cross country or work on any flight area of their choice. All renters fly under their own Personal Limitations Checklist which they can amend as their flight experience level increases.
Our AvFuel Certified Linemen offer top notch aircraft detailing and fueling services. Mid Island’s aircraft maintenance shop maintains our school fleet to FAA standards as well as providing retail services which range from basic oil changes to engine installations. We provide 100 hr, annual and aircraft pre-buy inspections as well as stock and sell a huge variety of Cessna and after market aircraft parts.
On the second Saturday of each month, our students and renters meet at ISP to participate in our free seminars where varied guest speakers discuss an array of interesting aviation topics. We are now performing seminars via webinar and are always looking for more corporate sponsors.

I got my private pilot license through mid island. The entire team is phenomenal. From flight instructors, to the front desk, to the maintenance department. I really really enjoyed my experience here and felt like they set me up for success. I would definitely recommend Reece as a flight instructor. The instructors here genuinely care about their students success.

I live on the south shore right off the water. We have lived here for over forty years and the noise has never been this bad. These people are constantly flying loops around the neighborhood. The noise is horrendous, and because I work from home, it makes it difficult to focus. I lose productivity. I’m a veteran with tinnitus, and the noise from these small planes exacerbates my symptoms. Not to mention all the carbon emissions from these planes that are destroying the climate.

My son had an amazing experience this summer at MIAS getting his Private Pilot's Certificate. His instructor Christian was fantastic, and everyone at MIAS took incredible care of him throughout the process. We can't thank them enough!

Really restrictive rental policies. Even if the weather meets their written guidelines they will still deny you the aircraft. I would recommend flying with a company with more realistic expectations. Was denied a flight with ceilings at 2300 broken.
