My first interaction consisted of a phone call. After moving to the central Georgia area I inquired about hangar/tie down space. My information was taken and I was promised someone would reach out quickly. That was 14 months ago and I still haven’t heard back. My next encounter consisted of a sim session in which I was doing instrument currency. That was relatively uneventful with a turnaround time of about a week. The 3rd interaction consisted of me flying my bonanza into the airport and parking at the Fbo. I called ahead and checked for tie down fees and crew car availability. I was told there weren’t any tie down fees unless you stay overnight and I could take a crew car for an hour for free. I give my id and fill out the paperwork and the owner comes out and tells me I need to pay for the crew car. My last encounter consists of me reaching out several times to try to get sim time to knock out my instrument currency before I need an ipc. I emphasized to the man at the front desk that I needed this done relatively quickly. I told him that I just needed 40 minutes in the sim by myself. He took my information and told me someone would be in contact with me. After 3 weeks of calling trying to get answers, I drove to the business. I said, “I’m just trying to rent your sim for 40 minutes I’ve given you my information 3 times.” Well, give me your name and phone number. After telling him I’d given him my number 6 times and 3 in the last month and that clearly this wasn’t working, he gave me the phone numbers of the instructors. I reached out and was called back within a couple hours. Kyle told me that I would receive a call by the end of the day after he looked at the schedule. It’s been over a week, he has not called back, he has declined every one of my calls. If you value your time, money, or just want a school that makes you feel like you’re not going to have problems with the validity of your certificate in the future, I would pick somewhere else. I have never recommended places like atp. Ive never been impressed by their graduates. They have a pompous unearned arrogance that makes the air hard to breathe. With that said if you were considering learning to fly, I would consider them over spirit, even knowing they’ve had a lawsuit filed against them. As always I encourage you to do your own research and make your own decision!
