Calm Air.

BE WARNED!  11/17/2023. If you have the time, I would definitely recommend you do some research on alternative travel arrangements if you are looking for a hassle free journey. This was our first time using this airline and it turned out to be a complete joke. It was bad enough that we paid $4k for 2 return tickets from Winnipeg to Churchill, but my wife and I arrived back to Winnipeg on 11/16/23, both to be informed that our check in bags were not put on the plane because of a 'weight' issue. Simple math does not appear to be part of the equation when organizing flights. One would think a reputable company with integrity would know how many customers are traveling on the flight and would estimate the potential weight based on their own guidelines (i.e., 50 lbs per person + carry on allowance). It's beyond comprehension that they would discover after the bags are checked in, that the load is too heavy. You would be forgiven for thinking that it appears this airline is happy to take booking (at grossly over inflated prices) in the knowledge that there is the potential likelihood that the baggage could be overweight. Based on other customer reactions, it would appear this is a common occurrence. This is an absolute disgrace and both my wife and I had no clothes or toiletries for a minimum of 24 hours as a minimum (I am writing this within that 24 hour period). We will definitely be talking to the relevant aviation authorities about this experience as well as Trip Advisor and other social media outlets.

Flew on Calm Air for the first time from Winnipeg to Churchill and back a few days later . I wish the large airlines treated people like them . The staff were very friendly and professional. Although the flight is long for a turbo prop , it was smooth and comfortable. Thank-you, Calm Air

Like others I would give a negative review. Avoid using Calmair and drive you will get there sooner. Delayed out of Thompson and after doing seciurity in Thompson had to do it again in Winnipeg. missed connection. Their response”we are just a little airline” Avoid avoid avoid using calm air!!! Made that mistake only once!!!

My crew chief is very great, I'm very excited and happy with his command, I meet a lot of previous colleagues. Also, very glad to have them shoulder to shoulder. Company personnel very organized. 1 day went very well. No stress, always welcome!!!

If I could give a negative star review I would. Calm air is absolutely the worst airline that you can travel on. As it is the only airline that travels from my community to the south I must take it. If there was another airline to choose from I absolutely would never travel with Calm Air again. I remember when I was younger that I was allowed three free suitcases at 75lbs each. Which was fantastic as everyone who's been to Nunavut knows how expensive everything is there. So we would bring back necessary items. Then they took away the 75 pound suitcases while my friend was visiting in Nunavut. she had brought three suitcases, all heavy, and she had to pay for overweight baggage despite buying the return ticket months and months before Calm Air took away that baggage allowance. Which they did not do a good job of informing the public of. Now, you can hardly get an aeroplan ticket with Calm Air. So your forced to pay expensive tickets to travel. And their cheaper branded fares? Never available when I check online, which is usually 2-6 months in adavce. Of course Calm Air has also taken away the three free bags when you book via an aeroplan ticket. You are now only allowed one free 50lbs suitcase with this fare. Student fare? Good luck! As a student the fare was still super expensive, and you aren't allowed any bags. None! As a student I did not have access to extra funds for a bag. So thanks Calm Air for that! Now we actually get onto the plane! Which always seems to be delayed. Most of the staff I have to admit are very friendly. But chances are that the next time you travel, there will be a completely different staff as it's just a rotating door of staff. I have travelled multiple times this year, as has my family. And it is packed. Yet the front of the plane is entirely empty! It's incredibly frustrating seeing those seats empty when you are in a middle seat with people right beside you. Also, the seats in front of you are so so so close to you. If ypu are on a larger size good luck with getting the tray table down. The current flight I'm on has the first 5 rows absolutely empty. Then you get to the food! For what you pay for the flight I expect something gourmet. Yes it's a plane, but again, the price for the ticket is so expensive that the small ham croissant sandwich and a dry brownie just isn't cutting it. If you are a pet owner make sure to watch the cargo handlers with your pet! Having no choice but to send our dog south the get vet check ups we have experience many horrible situations with Calm Air and our small 13 pound small dog. They have left him until very last to unpack him from the plane in the middle of winter. It was minus 51 that day! Trying to contact the cargo staff was impossible. The second time our dog flew from Winnipeg to Rankin Inlet, we had our pet sitter pick him up from the cargo building. I belive it took over 2 hours for him to get off the plane! No one was answering the phones or email in the cargo area so we didn't know what was happening to our dog! It was November and freezing. He's a tiny dog! I've been emailing and calling the cargo staff to get an apology and an explanation but never gotten anywhere as staff never contacted me again. Of course if you see the Cargo handlers handling other dogs you witness crazy events! Such are cargo staff dropping a dog from the plane to the ground! Poor puppy was fine, but unbelievable that it happened. They tried to deny what happened but there were witnesses, plus the new dog Kennel was broken. I need to travel for school and medical appointments. This service is a necessity for my territory. So I can't not travel unfortunately.
