Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Dominican coast of resorts and golf

Punta Cana is the Dominican Republic's leading private-aviation destination, a resort and golf coastline on the island's eastern tip that blends large-scale hospitality with exclusive enclaves like Cap Cana and Puntacana Resort. The winter high season brings heavy and midsize jets carrying US and Latin American families, golfers, and event and wedding parties, with peaks over the holidays and spring break. Passengers span resort guests, second-home owners in the gated communities, and corporate and incentive groups. Demand is strongest from December through April, easing through the summer and autumn hurricane season.

Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) sits about eight kilometres from the main resort zone, with two runways up to roughly 3,100 metres that handle heavy and many ultra-long-range jets, served by a private-aviation terminal and FBO for customs, immigration, and hangarage. The privately operated field is efficient but sees heavy holiday traffic that pressures parking. The flat coastal terrain is straightforward in normal weather, with attention to summer tropical systems, and La Romana (LRM/MDLR) and Santo Domingo Las Americas (SDQ/MDSD) as practical alternates. The transfer into the Bavaro and Cap Cana resorts runs about 15 to 25 minutes by car.
