Costa Smeralda, Porto Cervo & Yacht Set

Olbia is the gateway to Sardinia's Costa Smeralda, the emerald coastline built around Porto Cervo, its yacht harbor and some of the Mediterranean's most exclusive resorts. Private-jet demand concentrates in July and August, peaking around the Ferragosto holiday when the world's largest yachts fill the marina. Old-money families, financiers and A-listers define the scene.

Olbia Costa Smeralda (OLB/LIEO) is the regional airport with a single runway near 8,700 ft and dedicated business-aviation handling that swells enormously in peak summer. It accepts heavy and long-range jets, but August ramp space and slots are among the tightest in the Mediterranean and require early PPR. Alghero and Cagliari serve as alternates. Porto Cervo and the Costa Smeralda resorts are about 30-40 minutes from Olbia by car.
